One of the most important actions you can take to help your children and help the educational programs at Dodson Middle School is to submit an LAUSD Meal Application.
If you qualified last year:
* For you: Your children may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school. Many people are surprised to learn that they qualify. Federal money is allocated for this purpose and you should get your share.
* For Dodson: Dodson depends on funds provided by the federal Title I program and our Title I funding depends on the percentage of accepted Meal Applications. If all Dodson families apply we'll meet the threshold (50%) and receive these funds. These funds provide resources such as: Class Size Reduction Teachers, tutoring, library aide, nurse, curricular trips, instructional materials, technology and more.
Deadline for 2017 Meal Applications for Title I Eligibility: October 24, 2017 2015 California State Gold Ribbon and Title 1 Academic Achieving School
Congratulations to the entire Dodson community. We are officially a 2015 California State Gold Ribbon and Title 1 Academic Achieving School.
This honorable distinction was awarded to 373 middle and senior high schools across the State of California. According to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, these schools represent "academically successful, vibrant, and innovative centers of learning and teaching.” Dodson is the only comprehensive large scale middle school in LAUSD to receive the honor. I am extremely proud and honored to work at a public institution that has such a dedicated group of teachers that work collaboratively to improve the quality of education of all of our students.
